On Sunday, resident doctors of Safdarjung hospital in Delhi held a candle march in support of the Madhya Pradesh’s junior doctors protesting for their demands that include an increase in the stipend.

Dr Manish, President of Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) said that junior doctors of Madhya Pradesh have been protesting for the past one week for their genuine demands. Numerous meetings have been organized in this matter with no solutions so far. They will again hold a meeting. If the demands are not accepted then they will ramp up the protest. This is only a token protest.

Dr Vinay Kumar, National Convener of FORDA, said that the demands done by the junior doctors of Madhya Pradesh are genuine. On 6th May, the junior doctors had raised all their demands before the Madhya Pradesh’s government. The government gave assurance of accepting all their demands. However, the assurance was only verbal and nothing was given in written form.

The doctors are protesting for the past 5 days and demanding the release of the letter with an assurance of the acceptance of all their demands. If the government accepts that, then the doctors will call off their protest.

Dr Vinay further mentioned that patient care is not being interrupted or affected by the protest as the senior doctors are compensating. He said that they will ramp up the protest but will never allow patient care, COVID or non-COVID, or emergency services, to get disturbed.

Dr Vinay mentioned the government as their guardian and should not let their doctors come on roads to protest for their demands in such a challenging time.

Resident doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences also held a candle march on Sunday in support of the Madhya Pradeshs junior doctors.
